What You Need To Know About Protecting Your Family’s Skin From Sun Exposure

Did you know the effects of sun exposure accumulate over time? That means when your children are spending time in the sun without sun protection, your children’s skin is being damaged, even if you can’t see it. Remember these important tips to keep your family’s skin safe this summer:

  • Apply sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15 to 30 for yourself, or an SPF of at least 50 for your children
  • Try to avoid being in direct sunlight between 10 AM and 4 PM, when UV rays are the most harmful
  • Have your children wear hats, sunglasses, and other protective clothing
  • Make sure you and your family stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water
  • Make sure your children don’t walk around barefoot, to avoid foot injuries and burns
