Dermal fillers are injections that are a safe and fast way to correct volume loss and restore fullness. These fillers restore the skin by rebuilding natural collagen that breaks down over time. To achieve the best results possible, patients should follow the post-treatment instructions carefully.

While dermal fillers usually do not require any downtime and normal activities can be resumed following the procedure, patients are advised to wait 24 hours before taking part in any strenuous activity.

* Avoid rubbing, massaging, and manipulating the skin around the injection sites.

* Avoid sun exposure, excessive heat, exercise, and alcohol for 24 hours after treatment.

* After 4 hours, you may cleanse the treatment area using a gentle cleanser. Pat to dry. Makeup may be applied four hours after treatment if no complications are present. Apply makeup gently, avoiding strenuous rubbing of the injection area(s).

* Redness, bruising, and/or swelling can occur and last several days to two weeks after the procedure.  

* Injections in the lips may appear exaggerated due to swelling but usually subside in 48 hours. Ice packs will significantly help reduce swelling.

* Lip Filler – Refrain from eating anything salty for 24 hours post-filler as this may increase swelling.

* It is normal to feel “firmness” in the injection site(s) for the first few days to 2 weeks after treatment. The area will soften, leaving a soft, natural result.

* It is normal to experience some tenderness or aching at the treatment site for a few days. Tylenol is acceptable. Avoid blood thinners such as Motrin, Advil, Aleve, or ibuprofen which can cause bruising.

* Avoid any dental procedures or facial procedures including but not limited to facials, eyebrow waxing, etc. for a minimum of one (1) week after treatment.

* Flying is not recommended for 48 hours after treatment.

* Immediately report any ocular pain, vision impairment, or severe pain to the office
