BOTOX® treatment is a non-invasive procedure that can reduce or eliminate facial lines and wrinkles. In order to achieve the best results possible, patients should follow the post-treatment instructions carefully.
While BOTOX® after-care usually does not require any downtime and normal activities can be resumed immediately after the procedure, patients are advised to wait 24 hours before taking part in any strenuous activity.
* Avoid lying down and keep your head in an upright position for at least four (4) hours following the treatment.
* Avoid rubbing, massaging and manipulating the skin around the injection sites.
* Avoid exercise, heavy lifting, bending over for twenty-four (24) hours after the procedure.
* Avoid alcohol for twenty-four (24) hours after the procedure.
* After four hours, injection sites can be gently washed with soap and water, washing in an upward and outward motion.
* Redness, bruising and/or swelling might be present and last up to several hours after the procedure. Cold compresses may be used immediately after treatment to reduce swelling.
* Continue to frown, smile, and make facial expressions during the three-hour period following the injections. This allows the treated muscles to absorb the Botox solution. * Avoid any facial procedures including but not limited to facials, eyebrow waxing etc. for a minimum of one (1) week after treatment.
* Tylenol is acceptable. Avoid blood thinners such as Motrin, Advil, Aleve or ibuprofen which can lead to bruising.
Be sure to ask your doctor about any recommendations he or she may have regarding changes in your daily skin regimen or the use of other medicines and drugs in conjunction with your BOTOX® treatment.
FOLLOW UP
* Results vary but usually are noticed approximately fourteen (14) days after treatment.
* Botox treatments vary between patients, but usually last between 3-6 months. * Follow-up treatments should be scheduled prior to return of full movement of muscles.
* Complementary enhancement based on physician’s recommendation needs to be scheduled between
a minimum of 2 weeks to a maximum 4 weeks after the initial procedure. * Consistent repeated treatments will produce best resolution of wrinkles.
