Pre-Treatment Recommendations:
- Do not use topical agents that may increase sensitivity of skin: retinoids, topical antibiotics, exfoliants, acids that may be drying or irritating to the skin (such as alpha hydroxyl acid (AHA) beta hydroxyl acids (BHA), exfoliating masks, salicylic acids, hydroquinone, and benzoyl peroxide acne products) 5-7 days prior.
- No direct, unprotected sun exposure for at least one week prior to the treatment other than normal sun exposure. Do NOT intentionally tan or spend significant time in the sun without broad spectrum mineral SPF with Zinc Oxide.
- Do not use self-tanners. Your skin should be as light as possible prior to the treatment.
- If using a hydroquinone product, do not use on the day of your treatment.
- Please notify your provider if you are currently on ANY antibiotic.
- Please notify your provider of you have a history of cold sores.
- Alastin Nectar – *If pretreating with Alastin Nectar, apply product to skin twice a day, 2 weeks prior to BBL Treatment.
Post-Treatment Recommendations:
- Your skin may appear red, slightly swollen, or blotchy in the treated area for 1-2 days.
- You may apply makeup as desired, immediately after BBL, preferably mineral makeup.
- Use a GENTLE CLEANSER to wash face daily. No exfoliating during the course of treatment.
- Apply Alastin Nectar on the treated area 3-5 times per day.
- Do not spend any significant time in the sun without a total sun block. Use moisturizer and a broad-spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen of at least SPF 30 daily during treatments.
- No shaving over treated area as long as the area is red or swollen.
- You may continue use of normal skin care other than retinoids immediately after BBL.
